Long-term partnership for health and performance

High stress during organisational transformation

Nokia’s leadership team was under high pressure during a large scale organisational transformation. The head of HR was looking for a partner to support the leadership team on health, wellbeing and sustainable high performance in addition to the strategy consulting firm which was hired to plan and execute the overall transformation.


Services from coaching to executive training

The leadership team members started with Hintsa individual coaching already in 2014. As the composition of the team changed, new members were given a chance to join the program. Personal coaching was continued for five leadership team members in critical positions over the years. A new program structure was introduced in 2016 with additional support: Hintsa assessments, joint kick-off events, core mentoring, leadership team meeting interventions, and assistant workshops. Nokia wanted to make the Hintsa expertise available to a larger audience and  introduced the Executive training programme in 2017. In 2018 the programme was expanded even further  to include online surveys and remote coaching.


Ambassadors for better life and performance

Several members of the Nokia leadership coaching programme have reported significant lifestyle changes. The leaders realised that better rest and recovery have a positive impact on their performance and changed the course of their actions. One of the participants stopped smoking and took back the control of his life, the other began to enjoy the sports he once loved but had stopped practicing because of his back pains. The most committed participants in the programme are seen as keen health ambassadors inside the company. The programme is ongoing already for the fifth year with the key members of the leadership team.

My leadership journey took a new turn when I realized that holistic wellbeing is critical for peak performance, and something you need to take and make time for as a leader. The Hintsa program inspired and helped me make it part of my daily life and values.
